LOCAL LANDMARK, SHOE CORNER, AN INSPIRATION FOR RUVOLI’S NEW SONG
Local musician Frank Ruvoli pays tribute to local landmark, Shoe Corner, in his new release entitled, Places I’ve Been, available on August 16.
The six song collection opens with the new song, appropriately entitled, “Shoe Corner.” “There’s something very cool and mysterious about that place,” Ruvoli said. “One day, I drove by and I started coming up with lines. By the time I had gotten home, I had the chorus to the song.”
Ruvoli then put those words aside, and like he does with many of his songs, waited for the right piece of music to accompany them. “It was about 2 months after I came up with the chorus that I found the rhythm I wanted on guitar,” he said. After having the structure in place, he set out to finish the work.
“I started reading articles online and found two common stories about Shoe Corner: one about a homeless man and one about a woman often seen picking through the shoes. I used those as the inspirations behind the story of the song. I’m really happy with how it turned out!”
He is also happy with the rest of the project, too. It was produced, recorded, and mixed all by Ruvoli himself. “It’s the way of the new musician. Many of us are learning to do most, if not everything, ourselves. The music industry has changed, and if you want to be a musician, or work in the industry, you have to be entrepreneurial.” Ruvoli said.
His new release has six songs including fan favorite “Sweet Water.” It will be available on CD via his website on www.frankruvolimusic.com and also online on iTunes and Amazon with streaming available on Spotify on August 16.
